Description: FNH SCAR 16S / 17S / 20S Gas Regulator. This steel gas regulator will fit the SCAR 16S, SCAR 17S or SCAR 20S rifles chambered in .223 Rem / 5.56x45mm, .308Win / 7.62x51mm or 6.5mm Creedmoor. Installed in the gas block, this regulator adjusts to allow the rifle to work with or without a suppressor. Each regulator comes with a black finish and is ready to install. This is a factory original FN replacement part and is perfect as a part or to keep on hand as a spare.

Not mandatory... vent holes are both the same size (no suppressed setting)

The OEM regulator that came on my 16S had the full vent hole at 0.108" and the suppressed setting hole at 0.104". This revised flash-suppressing regulator has both holes measuring 0.105" which suggests there's no longer a "suppressed" setting.

The gun won't run without a gas regulator. You are more likely to misplace it during regular maintenance than to wear it out, especially in the field. You need a spare in your kit. SCARs aren't AR15s You don't find them except at a very few places. MGW's SCAR parts aren't chinese knock-offs that may fail when you are depending on them. This is the real McCoy. I always go straight to MGW when I need parts for any of my SCARs.
