Description: Springfield Armory M1A Vortex Venom Red Dot Mount. This clip guide sight mount is constructed from a strong steel and polymer, carries black finishing, and is an OEM factory original part from Springfield Armory. This red dot mount is designed for the M1A series of rifles. The mount is designed to hold a Vortex Venom red dot sight and is installed on the clip guide on the top rear of the rifle. Slide on the mount, apply the set screw for proper retention, and place the mount shim on the mount. The Vortex Venom red dot sight will then perfectly fit on this mount. The product itself appears well made. Only challenge is dovetail cut on this mount is larger than the M1A clip guide mount - by a lot! Measured by caliper (in inches). On the larger side the mount is at .369 vs clip guide at .348 inches. On the smaller side .361 vs clip guide .316! A substantial difference. So, the mount does not fit into the stock clip guide slot without some modification. Or maybe I just got one out of spec?? Reached out to MGW for suggestions on how to best fit and they replied "contact Springfield". That's going nowhere - still waiting for a reply from them over 10 days ago. Would only recommend this mount if you're prepared to have a gunsmith install it.

Bought this mount for my SOCOM 16. It’s an older model. The dovetail on the mount was bigger than the one on the receiver. I had to remove some material from it and had to use a hammer & brass punch to drive it in. So keep in mind that this mount may require minor fitting.

Works as advertised. Remove stripper clip guide and install as directed. Ensure the thicker end of the plastic mount is toward the barrel. I mounted a Vortex Venom 6 moa red dot and sighted it in at 50 yards. I use 175 grain HPBT running approximately 2,500 fps. Made it real easy to hit 100 yard targets while shooting offhand.
