Functional but Ugly POS

Bought this for my 54 Sporters as the factory unit was barely accessible to release mag. I would have hoped that Anschutz could design a better extended magazine release. This obnoxiously long bent sheet metal with an open back has to be the most poorly designed piece of "German Engineering"I have ever seen. I protrudes an inch past a seated 5 round magazine. The open "U" shape is to the rear to activate. For function it works ... but if your looking for a classy gun part it SUCKS in design. Wish my kids made things in school....

Extended magazine release provides excellent leverage unlike the original part. This part was originally designed for biathlon rifles. Because of the long length, it is slightly less than a perfect fit in length for 1710 and 1712 applications. It hangs down a little bit longer than I prefer. I think Anschutz could actually reduce the length by 40% and it would be perfect. Hence, only four stars. By the way, the part was easy to install and took about 10 minutes for installation.
