Descripton: Apex Evolution IV Smith and Wesson N Frame Hammer Kit

Originally designed as a semi-drop in replacement for Performance Center revolvers, the Apex Evolution IV N-Frame Hammer is redesigned using the same pinned sear and stirrup found on the Performance Center hammer. Additionally, the Apex Evolution IV Hammer replaces MIM components found in Smith & Wesson non-Performance Center revolvers and Performance Center revolvers made after January 2012. Manufactured from heat treated 17-4 Ph stainless steel, the hammer is wire EDM and CNC machined then surface ground to ensure consistent performance.

The hammer kit dropped right in, and works fine. No light strikes or misfires. The rebound springs were too short/light, so I did not use them.

This N Frame Hammer Kit is top quality. However, it did not work in my customer's revolver with out modification. The trigger cam bound with the hammer cocking nose, I believe due to slight dimensional irregularities from the factory with this particular M627-4 Performance Center revolver. Furthermore, the rear locking notch milled into the left side of the hammer was slightly too far aft per this gun's dimensions. The APEX owner and designer of the hammer and his staff were great in helping resolve the two issues, based on my research and diagnosis. The revolver action now cycles smoothly and completely. The S&W Internal Locking System now works also. And, of course, MGW is its usual outstanding sales company as well.
