I put this mag release on my 509 because the FN ambi release prevented consistent release of the magazine (pressed against my hand on the opposite side of the pistol). The Apex single-side release solved that problem for me. Release is easy to engage and is significantly extended. It fits inside my Dara Kydex holster, but just barely - worth checking for the holster you're using. I plan to try one of FN's LH-only mag releases when/if they become available again.
