Light-weight & Accurate

Great shooting rifle. I've paired mine with a Burris scout scope and a ching-sling. Because of how light-weight it is, there is a medium amount of recoil especially with heavier rounds. When shooting suppressed, the recoil is virtually eliminated. The action is smooth and it's very easy to stay on target - especially with a forward-mounted scout scope. The safety took a little time to get used to as it has 3 settings, but I like the added safety feature of locking the bolt in tight to the rifle body for during transport - which can be done when the safety dial is rolled to that locking position. Another extra safety feature is the magazines having a secondary position when inserted into the magwell. While I never recommend transporting or storing a firearm with a loaded mag inserted (unless for CC), this rifle allows you to put in a loaded mag that will first lock into a primary spot of the magwell. At this position, even if you open and throw the bolt, a round will not chamber until the mag is pushed into the second position. The built-in bipod is a really nice touch as it weighs much less than any aftermarket bipod you could add to it. I will say the bipod itself feels rather flimsy, but it does allow the rifle to rotate to level if your shooting on uneven ground. Both the front sight and rear ghost ring can be flipped up or down which is useful if you go without optics - or if you're using a standard scope with see-through scope rings. OR, go with a forward-mounted scout scope with long eye relief allowing you to shoot with both eyes open, eliminating the need for the flip up sights. The original scout came with a fluted barrel threaded to 1/2x20. On this Scout II, it was upgraded to a more modern 1/2x28 thread making it easier to find an adapter to go to a 5/8x24 for my suppressor. If you plan to shoot subsonics with this rifle, it's important to pay attention to the recommended twist rate for the rounds you buy - especially if shooting suppressed. This barrel has a 1:12 twist rate and there are not very many commercial subsonic rounds in .308 available for this twist. Most .308 subsonics require a tighter twist of 1:10 or more. Shooting the wrong subsonics can ruin a suppressor, so if you're unsure, shoot a few rounds without the suppressor onto a paper target to make sure they're hitting clean and not key-holing. You shouldn't have any issue with supersonics. After sighting in, my groups were right on top of each other at 100 yards - better than any of my other .300 cals. This rifle comes with a foam-lined hardcase and you will have to install the BCG, but it's pretty easy to do that and it helps familiarize yourself with the action of it. I purchased this rifle to have something that gave me quick target acquisition while packing a punch and to shoot suppressed. This rifle delivers and I'm pumped for deer season. No regrets here.
