Description: Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 Striker Assembly. Constructed from mostly steel components and a polymer bushing /keeper, this OEM factory original Striker Assembly is for the Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 pistols chambered in 9mm or .40 S&W. Included in this assembly is a striker, striker spring, striker dampening spring, striker keeper and striker bushing.

I purchased this striker assembly as a spare, so by definition, I have not used it yet -- and, with any luck, won't be using it in the near future. However, it bears a S&W OEM part number, and on examination it looks identical to the one that came from the factory, so I'm pleased.
Why a spare striker? In striker-fired autos, the striker leads a hard life, and that life becomes harder as barrel length goes down. Should a striker give up the ghost, it will happen with zero notice, almost certainly at a bad time, and render the pistol a paper weight. Having a spare striker at hand strikes me as a no-brainer.

Finally Smith & Wesson came up the a way to enhance the factory trigger on the M&P pistol in 9mm & 40 S&W. The Striker on the M&P M2.0 has an angled Firing Pin where the Firing Pin meets the Sear. This offers a smoother trigger pull and less take up when squeezing the trigger. I wondered often why someone world buy a pistol from one of the premier firearms manufacturers in the world and feel the need to immediately spend well over $100.00 to buy and install an aftermarket upgraded trigger in their M&P. We'll for the most part "problem solved" with the new Angled Firing Pin on the 9mm & 40 S&W M&P M2.0.
