This is the revised bolt catch that started appearing on American FN SCARs around 2012-beyond that works better with PMAGs due to the more centered bolt catch tang. On the original Belgian FN SCARs, the bolt catch was more at the edge of the magazine follower channel and would work fine with STANAG AR15 mags and AR15 PMAGs where you cut the notches. Magpul in its infinite wisdom kept the rear of the mags in more of a "V" shape, probably due to lazy manufacturing. This "V" would cause the Belgian bolt catch to stick up and wear from the moving parts group sliding over it. This revised bolt catch centers the tang so it works with both STANAG mags and PMAGs without having to modify any PMAGs.
