Uberti 1873 Finger Lever, Big Loop

The Loop itself is very nice and it looks fantastic on my rifle. I had it installed by a Master Gunsmith with over 30 years experience especially with cowboy guns because I wanted to know it was done right. Then he gave me the bad news about the safety trade off - which should not be... My problem is with Midwest Gun Works & Uberti for failing to inform me that once the Loop is installed, you can no longer utilize the locking/safety latch to keep the Lever secure. So now there is a open hole where the latch used to be and not only the issue of dirt getting into the receiver but the Lever can flop open because there no way to secure it. My Gunsmith warned me that this could be a concern when riding a horse and carrying the rifle in a saddle scabbard. They do not even provide some sort of hardware item to insert into the empty hole. So I really cannot recommed this item because no shooter should ever have to trade off safety for looks.

I have a Big Loop on all my lever action rifles (Winchester, Henry, Uberti). This loop is case hardened steel which gives it that Old West appearance. Had it put on my Uberti .357mag rifle to go with my Uberti 1875 (Colt Clone) in .357 mag. Go to the range with one bucket of ammo is great. I get many looks and questions about how the rifle looks now that I have a big loop on it. Every kid under 13 years old wants to shoot it and every father tells them and me NO. haha Guess they are just a little jealous.

Have always liked John Wayne's big loop on his 92. Bought a new Winchester 73, carbine, and when I saw this big loop offered, I decided to see if it would fit a Winchester. It Does. Seems to work fine, seems to have actually help make the action somewhat smoother. I really like it.

I've always wanted a large Loop rifle, the alternative buying a complete rifle with it on is costly. I purchased this part & put it on one of my 73 (straight stock) & love it, it was costly but i feel i came out ahead. I've used it for Cowboy Action Shooting for enjoyment & it wasn't that far off of timing for concern. The lever has a nice case hardening polish with gloss that brings out rich colors that is noticeable. I've waited months for this from MGW (missed notifications) & can say.. It Was Worth the Wait.
