Bought for a 686-5 that came in a cardboard box. Looks good, does what you'd expect. Great service and shipping from MGW as usual. I'm just astonished this is the best case design S&W could come up with back in the day. Opening it right side up requires both hands because the latches will fall closed the second you let go, and the clamshell loves to get caught on itself and refuse to close without a worrisome crunch to realign the hinges. Had I handled one first I would have just got something more modern.

A large plastic pistol hard case with two clasps on the handle. The inside has foam liners, top and bottom. There is a place to put a small padlock, which prevents opening the case. It has Smith & Wesson molded into the plastic, as well as their logo. Two full sized 1911's will easily fit in the case. It's too bad S&W doesn't include a case with their handguns.
