The spacer fits on the end of the buffer tube to provide extra length so you may adjust the length of pull of your rifle's stock. I bought an after market a2 buffer tube kit for my M&P 10. I bought the magpul prs gen 2 stock. You cant use the stock tube and buffer need a longer one. After market worked good until I started to shoot higher grain ammo. For some reason started to get jams and cycling issues. I bought the s&m m&p 10 spacer and used there stock buffer and spring. So far so good No issues yet.
