Description: Winchester Model 70 Trigger Guard Screw, Rear Hex Type (1.625"). This steel crafted OEM factory original trigger guard rear hex type (1.625") screw is manufactured for the Winchester Model 70 rifles chambered in both long action and short action cartridges such as the .300 Weatherby Magnum, .223 Rem, .308 Win, .30-06 Springfield, .22 Hornet, .300 WSM, 7mm Mauser, and more. This screw features a coated matte blued finish and functions by retaining the trigger guard to the stock of rifle.
Note: It is recommended that all Winchester Model 70 parts be installed by a qualified and trained gunsmith.

I have a Bell & Carlson Medalist in long action (#7776 I believe) for my 2016 FN Model 70. The front, factory, action screw that came with my wood stock was only giving me about 2 1/2 turns into the receiver. I wanted more turns so I searched high and low for a longer screw with a hex head. It was a bit hard to find even on the web. Called Winchester about having a special length screw for the B & C stock and they said no such item. They also could not give me specifics about the actual length of the part listed for the factory part they had listed for my serial number. Turned to MGW and they came through with a wide selection of actions screws. Ordered 2 for the front and one for the rear to have spares. For the front I chose one at 1.635" (IIRC), my factory screw was 1.285" I believe. Filed it down by hand so it was just even with the interior of the action interior and won't interfere with the bolt locking lugs. Touched the leading threads up with a bit of good sandpaper so no special tools required, just time. I now get almost 5 full turns into the receiver. Took a while to do as it is a good, hard screw (!) with a nice and deep hex head which will come in handy for R/R. Very happy with the purchase, speedy delivery during the COVID days. Would recommend this as a solution if you find yourself in need of a longer action screw. Seems to be a Winchester factory part. Very satisfied!
