Browning Buck Mark History

The Buck Mark .22 Caliber Pistol was introduced in 1985 and is still in production today. It is made in the U.S.A.

To find your serial number, you will need to refer to your owner's manual.

1985-97

In 1975 Browning standardized its serial number identification which it followed until 1998.

  1. Buck Mark Type: 655=Buck Mark Pistol
  2. Date of Manufacture is a two digit code:
    Z=1, Y=2, X=3, W=4, V=5, T=6, R=7, P=8, N=9, M=0
  3. Serial Number beginning with 01001 at the start of each year.

Serial Number Example:

655PV01001

This would be a Buck Mark pistol, manufactured in 1985 with the serial number 01001.
1998

In 1998 Browning redid the standardization of its serial number identifications.

  1. Buck Mark Type: 515 = All Buck Mark Models
  2. Date of Manufacture is a two digit code:
    Z=1, Y=2, X=3, W=4, V=5, T=6, R=7, P=8, N=9, M=0
  3. Serial Number beginning with 01001 at the start of each year.

Serial Number Example:

515NN01001

This would be a Buck Mark pistol, manufactured in 1999 with the serial number 01001.

I have an older Buckmark with rear elevation adjustment frozen. It was cheaper to buy this and screw it on (I ordered extra screws and lock washers) than to take to a gunsmith. I come to MGW for various hard to find parts. Thank you!

I almost traded my Buckmark Camper for an S&W. The plastic sight base on my Camper was one of the reasons I for it. I also wanted a better trigger, which I decided to replace with several Tandem Cross components. This factory Browning sight along with the aftermarket trigger components have made my 22 an absolute keeper. It was always accurate, but now I'm more accurate with it, and I have a more robust sight to keep it that way. It's not for sale!

This was a perfect replacement for my broken rear sight base part. Just tighten two screws and you're back up and running. It was so easy to put on, shipping was fast and the quality is excellent. My Buckmark looks and functions like new again
