Browning BAR History

The production of the BAR high power rifle began in 1967 and lasted through 1992. The BAR Mark II series was introduced in 1993 and is still in production.

Historic Information Serial Number Info
1967-75

In 1969 Browning started using two digits for the date of manufacture:

M=BAR High Power Rifle

This was then followed by the serial number beginning with 1000.

Example: 69M1000 = A 1969 BAR High Power rifle with a serial number of 1000.

They sent me 7mm mags instead of the 308 mags I ordered. They corrected the problem without any hassle or delay. I had previously tried to order them from Midway USA but was told due to Measure 114, they wouldn't let me order them, because could be altered. MGW from now on!
