Browning BAR History

The production of the BAR high power rifle began in 1967 and lasted through 1992. The BAR Mark II series was introduced in 1993 and is still in production.

Historic Information Serial Number Info
1967-75

In 1969 Browning started using two digits for the date of manufacture:

M=BAR High Power Rifle

Example: 69M1000 = A 1969 BAR High Power rifle with a serial number of 1000.

If you own a browning bar 1 or 2 rifle, you should own a spare magazine or two. They are very hard to find and if you search the net, some sellers are asking $150.00 and up. Midwest sells the mags at around $50.00. if you own a browning bar 1 or 2 chances are your rifle will be passed down to a loved one. Get one of these original browning mags while you can.
