Springfield M1 Leather Cheek Piece

The leather and the construction is excellent. The leather, however, was stiff, raw, unfinished leather. The one I received was almost white. I personally like old school methods and products and found some mink oil on Amazon. The leather soaked up the mink oil like a sponge. I applied three coats before it appeared to not soak in anymore (I also mink oiled the lace). I then wiped off the excess and buffed with a clean shoe brush and cotton towel and let dry for a couple of days. The leather lost is "stiffness". Structurally it was still very sound but malleable enough to work with. It fit to my stock perfectly with no movement when everything was tightened up. The color turned to a light brown, much like what you see in the advertised picture.

Good quality leather. No instructions for proper installation. Once I got it on it was too high for my scout scope mount. Great company. Can't complain about them.

Bought this for my SA M1a. Nice quality leather in the raw. Applied a few coats of oil to soften and darken the leather, which makes this look the part. I installed it on a GI wood stock and am really pleased. I run iron sights which this works perfectly for. I’m not sure if it has enough rise for a scoped rifle though. I’m happy with the fit, finish, and function and would not hesitate to purchase this again.
