I prefer the GI style thumb safety and Springfield Armory makes an excellent one….It took minimal filing to fit my Wesson A2 1911 and I much prefer this geometry over the larger so called tactical thumb safeties…..I have this same thumb safety on two other 1911s including my MIL-SPEC from Springfield Armory.

I wanted to replace the ambi safety on my Springfield Loaded with a regular GI one (didn't need the ambi, didn't like how large it was). Fitting was minimal, I followed the instructions on Youtube and in Kulek/Oldham book. Also got a 10-8 armorer's block, which really helped. The safety fit well, very happy with how it looks and feels.
