If you use Wilson's full size mags in an officer's sized 1911, this floor plate will prevent the possibility of over inserting the full size mag and thereby breaking the magazine catch when the slide is locked open.
The down side is, once converted, the mag will no longer be operational in a full sized 1911.
Don't slam your full size mags in a 3" 1911 or get this product and dedicate a couple of full size mags to your 3" 1911 support gear.
