Description: Boyds Marlin 336 Walnut Barrel Band Style Forearm. Featuring a standard satin finish, this barrel band-style forearm is produced for the Marlin 336 lever-action firearm. This premium forearm features an overall length of 10.125" and is made from quality walnut wood. This forearm is perfect to use with a matching stock.

Perfect machining on Boyds Marlin 336 Walnut Barrel Band Style Forearm

After reading many posts about trouble installing a rear barrel band and screw, I had a very pleasant surprise this afternoon. I was installing a new looking standard (with no sling attachment) rear barrel band on my 336W conversion (converted to a straight stock). I had already installed a Boyd front stock that looked like it had some very precise machining using a stock 336W barrel band. This also went on with no trouble.
My like new barrel band used the type of screw that had the threads next to the head. In other words, the shaft of the screw simply acts like a locating pin instead of a “clamping” screw. The barrel band was not loose at all (it did not need squeezing together). The screw/pin slipped into place with no trouble with just finger pressure.
I believe the Boyd front stock has been sized so precisely that I will have no trouble with the pin/screw bending or breaking.
