Description: Ranger Point Precision Marlin 336 Lightweight X1 Series Flyweight Shorty Magazine Tube, Silver. Manufactured from quality aircraft grade aluminum, this Ranger Point Precision lightweight X1 Series flyweight short magazine tube is for the Marlin 336 rifles chambered in .30-30 Win and .35 Rem. Perfect for transforming your 336 into a sleek sporter rifle, this tube is easily installed, has a capacity of 3+1, is durable and rust free and greatly reduces the unpredictable, potentially accuracy harming effects of traditional mag tubes. This piece is perfect as an immediate upgrade or for the next custom workshop project.

The shorty, or "button" magazine, for lever guns is not a new concept. That said, Ranger Point Precision has taken it to the next level with an innovative, 100% drop-in, ultra light design that shaves 6.5 ounces, turning your Marlin 336 30-30 or 35 Rem into a sleek sporter rifle.

The X-1 Shorty Mag Tube replaces the heavy steel, full length magazine tube on Marlin 336 30-30 and 35 Rem with an ultra-light, aircraft grade aluminum tube that terminates just in front of the wooden forearm. The ingenious, two-piece magazine tube - mag tube + retaining cap - is designed for easy installation with no gunsmith necessary. The retaining cap automatically compensates for tolerance variations from rifle to rifle, creating a secure, perfect fit no matter the manufacture date. Additionally, the kit comes with a sleeve to cover the barrel's front crosspin slot.

In addition to saving weight, the X-1 Shorty Mag Tube is free of contact with the barrel, greatly reducing the unpredictable, potentially accuracy harming effects of traditional magazine tubes. While capacity is reduced to 3+1, many hunters feel that this is more than adequate. The X-1 mag is short, but not on benefits.

All Ranger Point Precision parts have been specially designed to be backward compatible with models made from 1950 to current production.

Not a perfect fit

Although the tube is well made, it required delicate filing on the barrel band screw notch on the tube to get it to fit right and allow alignment of the screw. Also, the band to cover the original upper barrel band screw notch is way to large for the barrel and therefore unusable. I believe this band is made for the Model 336 with an original 3/4 magazine tube, whereas mine is a 1957 336RS with a full length magazine tube with the barrel band screw in front of the sight. Once installed, however, the tube looks great and really lightens the front end of the rifle.
