Description: Hogue Mauser 98, Military & Sport Actions Barrel Pillar Bed Stock, Black. The Hogue OM Series Mauser 98 stock is constructed so that the Mauser action fits rock-solid in a rigid fiberglass reinforced insert, assuring accuracy. This insert is completely OverMolded with a soft, but durable rubber, giving that comfortable resilient feel that Hogue is famous for. This stock features ambidextrous palm swells with Cobblestone texturing, pre-installed sling studs, Varminter-style forend, and a straight comb.
Features:
- Drop-in fit for "sporterized" M98 large ring Mauser. Will expressly drop-in fit virtually all M98 trigger mechanisms factory or aftermarket with no modifications.
- Barrel channel will free float most #2 and #3 taper barrels.
- Stock relieved for bent down or bent down and swept back bolt handles. Straight military bolt handles will also function in stock.
- Floor-plate is cut out for shorter FN floor-plates without a lock screw on the front tang.
- Floor-plate inlet relieved for push-button style hinging box magazine door.
- Screw hole spacing for floor plate/trigger guard is 7 13/16" center to center

This gun was built when Parker Hale owned them so it had an adjustable parker hale trigger which is longer in the back than Timney and actually is shimmed with washers between trigger and back mounting bolt lug instead of the screw that tightens up against the action on a Timney. The stock is Not a drop in fit for these triggers. I had to mill out a lot of material at the back so called pillar block which is nothing but a thin metal tube or bushing slid in the stock. Shame on Hogue for calling this a pillar bedding system! I guess for the money its not too bad. It also had to be inletted for side safety and the rounded tang at the front of bottom plate but both of these were luckily a job for an exacto razor blade knife as it is all just overmolded rubber. The one piece bottom plate has a large boss at the front that matches up with the front lug which fits in the front pillar block( again,thin metal tube) that had to be filed to fit because the outside of the round boss being cast aluminum wasn’t truly round. The so called pillar blocks were true to center for both action screws. This stock is good enough for a hunting rifle. Anything past normal military style or Timney style trigger will require some gunsmithing skills.
