FNH Five Seven Magazine Catch Kit, Reversible Grey

Needed a replacement spring for my older FN 57. No choice but to buy the kit containing both spring and reversible catch. There was another listed kit but blanked out with "Discontinued" on it. The catch in the kit was different than my original so I opted to use mine. The spring fitment and function are both exact and quality built, took me all of 5 minutes from breakdown to test cycling mags to verify function. I am curious as to why there is a discontinued part listed in the parts breakdown and why it was discontinued. Thanks MGW for saving my old FN from becoming a paperweight!! lol

My pistol is a older USG model ,and I guess I missed the memo about the plastic mag catch being a weak link on these models. I just kept cruising along until I got a "no fire" after the first shot of a fresh magazine . Went home ,got on the forums ,and all in my face was the answer. Most folks experience mags dropping completely out while firing, or similar. My experience was that the edge that holds the mag was wore at a bevel,causing the mag to drop out ever so slightly after a shot was fired. This created a "no mag" scenario which is a no fire. Flipped it and ran it left handed until the beefier metal catch and updated spring arrived. Was afraid the older factory mags wouldn't play well ,but they work great together. Now when the mag is pushed in it is a tight lock. Thank you FN for pointing me to MGW, and thank you MGW for super fast shipping even during this pandemic crap that is gripping the US right now. Replace that plastic catch as soon as possible if you have one. MURPHY'S LAW will bite you in the butt, when it seems fit. Dont let it be in front of a home invader or other bad guy situation.

This is a very high quality upgrade from the factory paper clip looking spring. I was up cat hunting and my factory spring broke. So i messed around to make sure i was able to still function everything still and was able to proceed on and get my cat. The new spring seems to be a little stiffer than stock which is good in my opinion. Good job guys on a good product that is upgraded from stock

Inserts better/easier than the older model wire spring.

Item is much stronger and easy to install then the original "bent paperclip". Highly recommended to prevent future problems on the shooting range or on the streets!
