Description: XS Sights Remington 870 12ga Magazine Tube Detent Swage Tool. The XS Sight's Magazine Tube Swage will allow you to easily remove the magazine cap detents of an 870, 1100, or 11-87 series Remington Shotgun chambered in 12 gauge. In the past, installing a magazine tube extension on one of the 870/1100/11-87 series of shotguns was as simple as removing the mag cap, prying up the magazine spring retainer, and swapping out springs before screwing on the extension. With the advent of the detent style magazine spring and mag cap retention system, this is no longer possible. Now one has to find a way to remove those detents so the follower can slide past them. The most common solution is to grind them away from the inside; while effective, this looks terrible and creates two ready-access holes in the mag tube for dirt and other debris.

User MUST lube before inserting or suffer a difficult removal. Anything slick, gun oil but some RIG grease or lithium grease will work best. Just tap in with a mallet or hammer and it pushes out those dents that hole in the magazine spring cap. Makes adding a mag tube extension very easy and professional. Better that drilling out or grinding off those dimples leaving metal particles all inside the tube that are almost impossible to get out. WARNING: this tool might rust in storage depending on your environment so lightly oil it to prevent this.
